Zanon Research & Innovation is thrilled to announce the first HB650 cavity completion.

This cutting-edge component is ready to be sent at STFC-Daresbury for its final cold test. After the successful vertical testing done at FNAL that qualified Zanon’s surface processing, the cavity was integrated in the titanium helium vessel and assembled for final testing. Jacketing the HB650 cavities was a difficult step to face! The TIG welding of the titanium vessel, due to its size and complexity, had to be done in a controlled atmosphere.

Next up: The jacketed HB650 cavity will be tested at STFC-Daresbury. If all goes as planned, the cavity will be assembled in the 1st HB650 cryomodule for PIP-II project (https://pip2.fnal.gov/) at Fermilab.

Stay tuned for further exciting updates!
